I received free samples of California Walnuts for this recipe post. By posting this Sumac Glazed Walnut Parmesan Crisps recipe I am entering a recipe contest sponsored by California Walnuts and am eligible to win prizes associated with the contest. I was not compensated for my time.

Walnuts are certainly my favorite nut to snack on and love how versatile they are in desserts…think Walnut Brownies YUM!!! Chocolate and walnuts are a match made in heaven, however sometimes I am looking for a sweet + salty snack and this recipe seems to be the best of both worlds.

Research suggests walnut consumption may be associated with improved cognitive function, including areas like healthy aging as well as mood, concentration and more. Snacking on walnuts is an easy way to up the intake and who doesn’t like a quick and easy snack that’s also good for you?!

Walnuts in this recipe are paired with sumac, a Middle Eastern spice made by grinding vibrant red sumac berries. Sumac is so versatile and pairs well with most other spices, it has a very lemony and refreshing flavor which makes it such a perfect fit for this recipe…nutty, sweet, salty, tart, and so so delicious!

This is a simple snack recipe with minimal ingredients – California Walnuts, grated parmesan cheese, sumac and maple syrup
Add chopped walnuts in a pan over medium heat, let them toast, add sumac, maple syrup and mix with a spatula
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and create discs with grated parmesan cheese. Top the discs with spoonfuls of maple and sumac glazed walnuts
Bake at 350°F for 5 minutes and voila!
